The World's Largest Gathering of Islamic Finance Leaders

Bahrain Pavilion at the 16th Annual World
Islamic Banking Conference 2009

The 16th Annual World Islamic Banking Conference (WIBC 2009) will for the first time feature a fully-fledged Bahrain Pavilion, further highlighting the Kingdom's increasingly important role as a leading global hub for the international Islamic banking and finance industry.

Hosted by the Bahrain Association of Banks (BAB), with the support of the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), the pavilion will host a selection of member banks, showcasing the strength and depth of Islamic financial institutions based in Bahrain. Speaking ahead of WIBC 2009 Robert Ainey, Chief Executive of BAB said that:

"As a major event in the Kingdom's financial calendar, we are keen that our member banks have the largest participation possible in a cost-effective manner at the 16th Annual World Islamic Banking Conference. The aim is to allow greater participation by smaller organisations who may not have had the resources to have a standalone presence in past events".

The Bahrain Association of Banks represents and advocates the interests of all the various licensed financial institutions in Bahrain and works closely with the Central Bank of Bahrain and other government authorities at the highest levels on issues of banking policy and regulation, as well as actively promoting Bahrain as an international financial centre.

A robust future: The global footprint of
Islamic finance continues to expand

According to David McLean, the Managing Director
of the World Islamic Banking Conference:

"Islamic finance continues to enlarge its geographic spread - notwithstanding the effects of the global economic slowdown. The Bahrain Pavilion and the other international pavilions that will be represented at this year's WIBC reflect this growth and also underscore the importance of WIBC in the global Islamic finance arena. BAB and EDB are our valued partners and their

role at WIBC this year enables Bahrain to further showcase its world-class capabilities and to support the continued growth of the Islamic banking industry globally."

The 16th Annual World Islamic Banking Conference will be held on the 6th, 7th and 8th December 2009 in Bahrain. Secure your place today and join more than 1,200 industry leaders from over 50 countries in shaping the future of the global Islamic banking industry.

Yours sincerely,

David McLean
